Day 6

As the Olympics embrace breakdancing, this Canadian youth champ is ready to battle for gold

Emma Misak, 18, of Surrey, B.C., won silver in breakdancing at the 2018 Youth Summer Olympics. Now, she's training for Paris 2024.

The Paris Olympic committee has recommended breakdancing be included at 2024 Games

When Emma Misak hung up her ballet slippers for sneakers to break dance, she probably never expected she might one day head to the Olympics.

But the 2018 Youth Summer Games silver medallist might have a chance in 2024 if the International Olympic Committee approves a recommendation from the Paris Olympic Organizing committee to including breaking in its official lineup.

That vote is expected to take place next year — and the 18-year-old Gang Starr fan is already getting ready.

"I'm just practicing how I practice always because if I train the way I am for a really long time then I'll just grow from here and hopefully be ready in time," Mizak told Day 6 host Brent Bambury.

Break dancing as an Olympic sport is something Toronto b-boy Benzo, of the legendary crew Bag of Trix, would've loved for himself.

"I always visioned it being part of the Olympics, or a part of something big like that — something special," he said.

"It's just mind-blowing that it might even happen for 2024."
