Pope Francis is in Mexico this week and will end his trip on Wednesday with a visit to the notorious border city of Juarez, recently removed from a list of the world's most dangerous cities.

Pope Francis is in Mexico this week, and will end his trip on Wednesday with a visit to the notorious border city of Juarez —  recently removed from a list of the world's most dangerous cities.  Officials say in 2010, around 8 people were murdered daily in Juarez . Now, they say there's about 1 a day.

But why is Pope Francis heading to the former murder capital of Mexico, and what is the church's role in making Juarez safer? Brent speaks with Diana Washington Valedez, a Mexican-American journalist  in El Paso, Texas. Her forthcoming book is titled "Mexican Roulette: Last Cartel Standing."
