"Good evening. Hello! I have cancer. How are you? Is everybody having a good time?"

And with that, comedian Tig Notaro opened her now legendary set at the Largo nightclub in Los Angeles. Just diagnosed days before, she was still reeling from the sudden death of her mother, a painful break-up, and an intestinal disease that had nearly killer. All of this was incorporated into her routine that night, and what happened in the year that followed is captured in the documentary Tig which opens the 2015 Hot Docs festival in Toronto this month.

The 6pm screening on Friday, April 24th will be followed by a Q+A with the filmmakers, Tig Notaro and hosted by Day 6's Brent Bambury. You can find out more about the film and ticket availability here
