Radical Homemakers
Radical Homemakers believe opting out of the work world to live frugally and reclaim lost domestic arts saves money, restores sanity to both families and individual women, revitalizes local communities and helps save the planet.
Working mothers face long hours on the job and at home, and pressure to be increasingly involved in their kids' lives. For some white collar women, the solution is to fight for more family-friendly government policies, more flexible workplaces, and more women in leadership positions. But others are taking a different approach. Known as "The Radical Homemakers" - they are a grassroots movement of women in the Canada and the U.S. who say they are opting out of the rat-race, living frugally, and reclaiming lost domestic arts. Tara Henley's documentary, Lean Out, explores the phenomenon.
