A millennial gets home-schooled on entitlement
A mother in Brampton, Ontario – fed up with her ungrateful 23-year-old son living at home while attending university – handed him a bill for $40,000 for 13 months of expenses. They included $600 for cleaning and vacuuming, $1200 for food and $1000 for not being appreciative of his mom's emotional and financial support. Game, set, mom!
Host Gavin Crawford asked the Because News panellists "At what point should a parent's financial obligation to their children be over?" For Ashley Botting that answer is 24, the age her parents threw her out. Thankfully she was on the first floor, so there were no serious injuries.
Panellist Anand Rajaram responded that on the one hand, the sooner kids embrace financial independence the better, but on the other hand his parents were listening. So he went with "never." Final answer.
Turns out, Gavin's parents were listening too so the answer is indeed "Never." Point for Anand! And what the heck, a point for parents too! Don't spend it all at once guys!
