Sorry, Quebec. We butchered your karaoke :(

Renowned opera singer Measha Brueggergosman belts out her best Céline Dion

There's no crime like French crime. Police in Gatineau, Quebec, are cracking down on karaoke bars flagrantly flouting the law. According to Quebec liquor laws, bars require a special license for karaoke singing. If a bar wants to host terrible amateur singers, it has to pay $426 for an add-on to its license.

This was the perfect excuse to ask our panellists to sing. Here's how it works: we've taken three popular karaoke songs and run them through Google translate. Panellists Measha Brueggergosman, Kris Siddiqi, and Tom Howell each take turns to sing an excerpt from a beloved English classic - in Google French.

First up, comedian Kris Siddiqi...

Comedian Kris Siddiqi sings Whitney Houston's "Je Veux Danser Avec Quelqu'un."

Next up, ex-lexicographer Tom Howell...

Author Tom Howell attempts Madonna's 1984 classic, "Comme une Vierge."

Lastly, opera singer Measha Brueggergosman!

Soprano Measha Brueggergosman delivers Celine Dion's "Complètement Seule."
