Brooklyn bar owner boycotts controversial bad Santa fest, SantaCon

Not everything that happens around Christmas is nice. Some of it is truly disgusting. For Brooklyn bar owner Betsy Maher, SantaCon certainly falls in that category.

SantaCon is New York's annual gathering of tens of thousands of Santas. Not the real Santa. He's busy. These are people dressed up like Santa. People who have frequently had a lot to drink.

When Maher found out that SantaCon might be coming to Bushwick this year, she organized a boycott. Even though some reports say SantaCon has bowed out of Bushwick, the NYPD have heard talk of a pro-SantaCon protest outside Maher's bar, Pearl's Social and Billy Club.
