Hawk trashes Missouri man's bedroom
It seemed like any other day for Missouri man Drew Arnold. That was until a red-tailed hawk crashed through two panes of glass and trashed the entire contents of his bedroom.
Arnold had just rolled out of bed minutes before. Then, from his living room, he heard the sound of crashing glass. Naturally, he went to check it out.
He tells As It Happens host Carol Off, "There was just an enormous bird sitting on my rug in my bedroom."
Not only did the hawk break the window, it left Arnold's room a mess. "She knocked all the pictures off my wall, all the stuff off my dresser, scratched up all the woodwork around the windows, and scratched up the headboard," he said.
Arnold called his step-father who told him to put a blanket on the bird and carry it outside. Arnold, however, did not want to face the hawk. "It's a big bird...So, I would just check on it every couple minutes and make sure it wasn't in terrible distress or something," he said.
Within the hour, animal services arrived. "He just walked over, said hey there little guy, and picked her up," said Arnold.
The hawk is still being treated and is expected to be released this week.
