Episode Transcript

Part One

Ukraine: Ambassador to the UK
Ukraine's ambassador to the UK says today's talks between Russian and American diplomats didn't quell fears of an invasion, but he's more interested in what Russia does than what Russia says.

New Brunswick encampment
A woman who's been living in a tent in Fredericton, New Brunswick says the city's plan to dismantle encampments will drive her and other homeless people farther from town -- and from life-saving services.

Meat Loaf obit
You knew the late singer as Meat Loaf -- but tonight we hear from one of the former teenage softball players who knew him better as "Coach Meat." And she remembers a rocker with a soft side.

Part Two

North York shelter
Just days after opening, a Toronto homeless shelter is already at capacity, and the CEO of the company that runs it says COVID outbreaks, the opioid crisis, and winter weather have left operators with their hands full.

Youngest around the world
A Belgian teenager has just become the youngest woman to fly solo around the world -- all before she's even started university.

Part Three

Encore: Gene Weingarten "One Day"
We revisit my conversation with the Pulitzer-prize winning journalist who plucked a random date from a hat and wrote a book about it.
