As It Happens: Friday Edition
Part One
Hong Kong arrests
With major protests planned for tomorrow, Hong Kong police arrested several key pro-democracy activists today — and a former lawmaker is disgusted by the pre-emptive strike.
Head fossil
They've found bits and pieces of fossils of an important ancient hominin species before — but now, archaeologists have discovered almost a entire skull that's nearly four million years old.
Dildo, NL update
This summer, a Newfoundland town of around 12-hundred people was suddenly thrust into the spotlight — and it's not because of the whaling and sealing museum...in Dildo.
Part Two
Andrew Luck retires
As an NFL quarterback, Andrew Luck was a smashing success. But he was also a smashed one, suffering injuries including a concussion and a lacerated kidney. Still, some football fans and commentators seemed baffled when the 29-year-old announced his retirement last week. Our guest — a former NFL centre — understands completely.
Asexual bugs
About a century ago, some stick insects native to New Zealand migrated to the UK. And they took the opportunity to discard some of the traditions they had in their home country. For example, they got rid of all the male stick insects — and started reproducing asexually.
