As It Happens: Friday Edition
Part One
Hawaii AG
A Honolulu judge issues a temporary restraining order against the latest version of President Trump's travel ban — and tonight, Hawaii's attorney general tells us why he challenged it in the first place.
Quebec plane crash
Our guest was in a shopping mall parking lot when a small plane plummeted from the sky after a mid-air crash — and then the other plane fell on the mall itself.
Stouffville vs. Detroit concert
Establishments in Stouffville, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan are both trying to stage the longest concert in the history of the world — and because of their rivalry, the show must go on. And on and on and on.
Part Two
Mount Etna eruption
A BBC team went up Mount Etna in Sicily to do a story on volcano monitoring — and ran down at top speed when it abruptly erupted.
Nazi salute suit
An Ohio activist takes the actor James Woods to court, because when someone falsely accused her of giving Donald Trump a Nazi salute, he retweeted it — which she says triggered a barrage of hate.
Part Three
Refugee attack
A boat carrying Somali refugees was attacked off the coast of Yemen Thursday night. It's not entirely clear who — or what — attacked the vessel, but more than 40 people are reported dead, with many more in hospital.
Oxycontin lawsuit
It has cost the city of Everett, Washington, millions to fight the prescription opioid epidemic. And now, Everett wants the pharmaceutical company behind one popular painkiller to help it pay.
