As It Happens: Friday Edition
Part One
Trump supporter
Corrin Rankin is not your typical Trump supporter. She's a black woman, and she's from the San Francisco Bay area. But today, she celebrated — just like she did when she signed up to volunteer for the California for Trump Black Coalition.
Inauguration: protests
Protests and counter-protests have been erupting in D.C. all day — and I'll speak with a journalist who was thrown to the ground by police in the midst of a demonstration.
Inauguration: Canadian border
U.S. border guards turn back a Canadian student wanting to attend the Women's March on Washington, telling him that wasn't a good enough reason to enter their country.
Part Two
Inauguration: Mike Reagan
There is no greater icon to American conservatives than Ronald Reagan — and tonight, his son Michael shares his hopes for the incoming administration.
White House website: climate
Just minutes after Donald Trump became President, all mention of climate change disappeared from the White House website — and our guest says that's a sign of things to come.
Part Three
Taser case
Police in Bristol, England are caught on tape Tasering their own former race-relations' advisor in the face. And as he tells us, that won't help build bridges with the black community.
Bus garage
If you put your son on the bus in the morning, but discover that he never made it to school, you would panic. If you then discovered that he'd spent seven hours on that bus alone, in a freezing, locked bus garage, you'd be angry. And that's just what Carolyn Moccasin is.
CIA documents online
For the last couple of months, freedom of information activist Michael Best has been printing off declassified government documents at the National Archives in Maryland. He was doing it to make a point: that the documents should be published online. Well, this week the CIA released the documents online.
