Part One

Oregon militia acquittal
The Bundy brothers and their gun-slinging cohorts occupied an Oregon wildlife reserve for weeks — so our guest is shocked and disappointed to hear of their acquittal.

Morneau fundraiser
Justin Trudeau came to office promising a higher standard of ethics — but Democracy Watch says Liberal fundraisers are making that standard seem more mythical than ethical.

Cubs fans
The last time the Chicago Cubs made it to the World Series, the Second World War had just ended. And brothers Phil and Frank Nienstedt were at Game 7 of that Cub series, back in 1945.

Part Two

Gander musical
Former airline pilot Beverly Bass flew into Gander, Newfoundland on 9/11 — and this weekend, she'll go back to see the musical about that day, which is finally opening in the town where it's set.

Emmett Till sign shot
More than 60 years after 14-year-old Emmett Till was abducted, killed, and left in a river in Mississippi, someone has shot the sign commemorating his death full of holes.

Part Three

Cargo ship
Now that the shipping company Hanjin has declared bankruptcy, its workers aren't getting paid, they're running low on supplies — and many of them remain stranded on ships, with no idea when they'll be back on land.

Sarnia mayor
For 28 years, Mike Bradley has been the mayor of Sarnia, Ontario. Now, he's not allowed into his office — after an investigation finds he bullied city employees, and created a "poisoned work environment".

Hallowe'en reading: Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven"
This guy's super-bummed about his girlfriend, and then he lets this bird in, and the bird can talk but it's a total jerk. I mean, that's the gist of it? But it sounds better in Edgar Allan Poe's words.
