No one could get a giant Carbonear clock working — until this Ukrainian woman, fleeing the war, arrived in town
Liudmyla Pass came to Carbonear from Ukraine, with her husband, at her daughter’s insistence. Upon arriving, a social media post about a clock that hadn’t ticked (or tocked) in almost 40 years ultimately led Pass to finish the project — successfully. The CBC’s Henrike Wilhelm spoke with Pass and her daughter Yulia Veretennyk — who translated for her mom — about what comes next for the clock-fixer.
