Suge Knight gets bail on assault, drugs charges
Rapper and music mogul Marion (Suge) Knight has been released on bail of $19,000 US by a Las Vegas court.
He must return to court Sept. 21 to face charges of assault with a deadly weapon, battery domestic-violence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of dangerous drugs without a prescription.
Knight, former owner of Death Row Records, was arrested Wednesday after police were called to the Las Vegas strip with reports of a man beating a woman.
Police said they saw a man standing over a woman and beating her, with a knife in his hand. The man was found to have ecstasy and the painkiller hydrocodone in his possession.
The woman was treated for minor injuries in hospital and released.
Knight, 43, served time in 2000 after violating parole conditions related to an earlier assault conviction.
Knight declared bankruptcy in 2006 and eventually lost control of Death Row Records, which was sold earlier this year.
