New Sorkin, Fey shows join CTV lineup

Two anticipated new TV series NBC unveiled last month willalso join CTV's fall lineup, theCanadian broadcasterannouncedMonday.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, the latest from West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin, and 30 Rock, a comedy from Saturday Night Live alumnus Tina Fey, will air on CTV beginning this fall.

Both are backstage dramas set at a network comedy show.

CTV announced the addition of seven new U.S. series to its prime-time lineup.

They includea Jerry Bruckheimer-produced legal drama called Justice, starring Victor Garber of the recently defunct spy series Alias, and Let's Rob..., a comedy where the main character plans to rob the ritzy home of Rolling Stone singer Mick Jagger, who is set to appear in cameos.

Among its Canadian additions, CTV will offer made-for-TV features, miniseries and documentaries, many telling the story of individuals ranging from aboriginal leader Elijah Harper to Conrad Black to the Winnipeggers who started the K-Tel infomercial empire.

In late June, CTV will also premiere a new one-hour drama entitled Whistler, a mystery set in the ski resort town, which will continue in the fall.

The latest additions join other popular U.S. TV shows already on the CTV schedule, including American Idol, the three incarnations of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Grey's Anatomy, The Amazing Race and Lost.

Returning Canadian fare includes Canadian Idol, Corner Gas, Robson Arms and Degrassi: The Next Generation.

CTV also announceda new initiative offering some of its Canadian programming over the internet.

After downloading a free video player, users will be able to watch clips of some CTV-produced shows, like entertainment program eTalk, as well as full episodes of such showsas Corner Gas, Canadian Idol and the CTV National News. Some Discovery Channel programming will also be offered.

However, just like TV, the web offerings will include commercials, which cannot be skipped.
