Canadian singer Alanis Morissette and her husband, rapper Mario "Souleye" Treadway, are expecting a baby.

Canadian singer Alanis Morissette and her husband, rapper Mario "Souleye" Treadway, are expecting a baby.

The 36-year-old singer, who married Treadway, 30, on May 22, announced her pregnancy in an article, "25 Things You Don't Know About Me," in the current issue of US Weekly.

After sharing tidbits about herself such as "I make a mean chocolate-chip banana bread," she used the last entry to say, "I am pregnant."

On Wednesday, she confirmed the announcement on Twitter: "Yes, happy news … I'm pregnant:) We're so excited to start our family."

No other details, including the singer's due date, were given.

Morissette, who was born and raised in Ottawa, has sold more than 60 million albums, and has won seven Grammy awards and 12 Junos. Her last album, Flavours of Entanglement, was released in June 2008.

She will return as a guest star on the sixth season of Showtime comedy Weeds, which premiers Aug. 16.
