Windsor Regional Hospital president to temporarily take helm at London Health Sciences Centre
David Musyj is heading to the London, Ont., hospital for 'open-ended' period of time
David Musyj, the long-serving president and CEO of Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH), is being seconded to London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) effective next week.
Chief nursing executive Karen Riddell will become acting president and CEO of WRH while Musyj is working for the hospital in London.
The news was announced on Friday.
"A stable and strong London Health Sciences Centre is good for London, Windsor, the region, the province, Canada and in fact internationally," said Musyj in a statement.
"I am honoured to be part of the LHSC team."
It is not immediately apparent how long this arrangement will last.
Musyj will continue to be involved in the planning and construction of the new hospital.
"We wish David success in his role assisting LHSC," said WRH board chair Patti France.
"While we will miss David on a day-to-day basis, we are proud of his achievements here locally, extremely excited for his new opportunity and confident in his leadership abilities in this role."
What Musyj will be doing in London
LHSC says Musyj takes on the role of president and CEO for an "open-ended" period of time in the continued absence of Jackie Schleifer Taylor, who remains on leave.
Matthew Wilson, chair of the hospital's board of directors, says Musyj will provide "additional leadership capacity" for the organization.
"Mr. Musyj brings extensive health-care leadership and expertise to LHSC, including more than 15 years of experience leading a major hospital organization," said Wilson in a statement, adding it builds on a long history between the hospitals.
