Toronto Mayor John Tory wants to know where residents think a large 'TORONTO' sign set up in front of city hall for the Pan Am Games should be displayed during a 2016 tour.

Tory launched a campaign on social media Thursday that included a video asking Torontonians to tweet suggestions to him at his handle @JohnTory. The campaign uses the hashtag #TORONTOsign.

In a news release, the city said the sign at Nathan Phillips Square "has become a hit with residents and tourists." Spelling out the city's name in large letters, the sign is reminiscent of both the much larger HOLLYWOOD sign and a sign in Amsterdam popular with tourists.

In a video, Tory suggests High Park in the city's west, or Yonge-Dundas Square downtown. He even suggests the sign could leave the city.

"Maybe we can put it outside the Canadian Tire Centre, the home of those awful Ottawa Senators," he said.

The sign will remain in the square until the end of the year, then tour the city (and possibly beyond) in 2016.
