Toronto man's death is the latest associated with swine flu

Swine flu is believed to have been a contributing factor in the death of a 60-year-old Toronto man. 

Three people in Canada — two of them in Toronto — are believed to have had swine flu at the time of their deaths, though medical officials are unsure of how large a role the H1N1 virus played.

A spokesman for Ontario's health minister confirmed Monday that the man, who had been hospitalized with swine flu infection, died Sunday afternoon.

Steve Erwin said the unidentified person had a number of medical conditions.  At least one report said the man suffered from congestive heart failure.

He was being treated at Toronto Western Hospital. 

In May, a 44-year-old Toronto man with the virus died. 

Swine flu is suspected to have played a role in the death April 28 of a 39-year-old Alberta woman, who had suffered from diabetes and asthma.

As of Monday, Ontario had 715 confirmed cases, up 89 from Friday.

Nationally, Canada has reported 1,530 cases, in all provinces and territories except for Newfoundland and Labrador.
