Ontario's police watchdog is investigating the case of a man who died after falling from the balcony of a North York highrise in suburban Toronto on Christmas Day.

In a media release, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said the man was 34 years old.

According to the SIU, at approximately 5:10 a.m. ET, Toronto Police Service officers went to an apartment building at 155 Antibes Dr. for a disturbance call.

Officers found a man on an apartment balcony. From a neighbouring balcony, the officers attempted to negotiate with him. 

At approximately 6:50 a.m., the man fell from the balcony to the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the SIU said.

Two investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case, the SIU said.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about the case to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through its website.
