Third suspect arrested in Air India bombing
The RCMP have arrested a third man in connection with the Air India bombing. The move follows the arrests on Friday of 51-year-old Ajaib Singh Bagri of Kamloops and 53-year-old Ripudaman Singh Malik of Vancouver.
The police are not releasing the suspect's name. However, Air India task force spokesperson Constable Catherine Galliford does say the man was arrested on the Lower Mainland, and it was carried out peacefully.
She also says police have received many more tips since Friday, and she says the task force will be making more arrests.
Security is expected to be tight as the two men arrested on Friday appear in provincial court in Vancouver Monday morning. Bagri and Malik face first degree murder charges in connection with the 1985 bombing that killed 329 people.

Malik's lawyer says there's not much of a case against his client. Terry LaLiberte expects the Crown to rely heavily on one particular witness. "I have my suspicions that it's a disgrunted employee of the school who may be coming forward, who couldn't get Mr. Malik in another way," he says, "and decided that this person would suggest that he made some sort of confession to this person."
Malik heads the Khalsa school in Surrey. He was arrested there on Friday.
LaLiberte says he'll apply for bail as soon as possible. He says his client is not a flight risk, even though the police found a plane ticket in Malik's office on Friday. The lawyer says Malik was planning to attend a religious ceremony in Pakistan.
