Elliot Lake residents will have to wait longer than expected for the public inquiry report on the mall roof collapse that took two lives in June 2012.
Inquiry commissioner Justice Paul Belanger was mandated to complete the hearings and a final report within 18 months, but has asked the province for more time due to the complexity of the public hearings and large volume of evidence.
The province has given Belanger until the end of October 2014 to produce his report on the Algo Centre Mall roof collapse.
The public inquiry has also cost more than expected. The pricetag started at $15 million, but has now climbed to $20 million.
