The Saskatchewan Roughriders have had a busy week signing some marquee CFL players, but today the team is also saying goodbye to a handful.

On Friday, the team released national defensive lineman Dylan Ainsworth, national wide receiver Shamawd Chambers, international quarterback Mitchell Gale and international running back Curtis Steele.

The Roughriders also released international linebacker Otha Foster so he can pursue an NFL opportunity.

Foster spent one season with the Riders after signing with the Green and White as a free agent last February. The 28-year-old Louisiana native picked up 71 defensive tackles, four tackles for loss, three quarterback sacks and one interception in starting all 18 regular season games. He was named the Riders most outstanding defensive player.

Foster was scheduled to be a free agent until Feb. 14.

The Roughriders also announced Friday international defensive back Erick Dargan has signed with the team.

Dargan, from the University of Oregon, was signed after recently participating in a Riders open try-out in Oakland, Calif.

New QB, receiver

Earlier this week, the Riders signed quarterback Kevin Glenn — again. It will be the third stint with the Green and White for Glenn.

And on Thursday, the Roughriders signed veteran receiver Duron Carter.

The six-foot-five, 205-pound Carter had 61 catches for 938 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games last season with the Montreal Alouettes.
