Several P.E.I. fire departments helped fight a fire at a farmhouse on the Branch Road in Tryon Friday night.

One person was asleep on a couch but woke up when the smoke alarm went off.

Crapaud Fire Chief Chris Paynter said no one was injured in the fire but the house was completely gutted.

A neighbour told CBC a younger couple had bought the old farmhouse a couple of years ago.

Fire investigators were at the scene late Friday night trying to determine the cause.
