Teen suffers head injuries in bike accident

A 16-year-old boy from Miscouche, P.E.I., is in Prince County Hospital recovering from head injuries following an accident Monday night involving a bicycle and a pickup truck.

The boy was not wearing a helmet.

The accident took place in Miscouche at about 9:45 pm.

The RCMP say the 16-year-old went through an intersection against the red light and drove into the path of a Ford F-150 truck. The bike he was riding was not equipped with reflectors.

The Miscouche fire department, RCMP and Island EMS responded to the accident. Police say the teen's injuries are non-life-threatening.
