Power has now been restored to more than 2,200 Islanders in eastern P.E.I., says Maritime Electric.
When technicians were working at the Dingwells Mills substation Tuesday morning, they saw that a piece of equipment was broken following a copper theft there recently, spokesperson Kim Griffin said.
The outage started mid-morning Tuesday. Power was restored around 5 p.m.
L'école La-Belle-Cloche in Rollo Bay, P.E.I. closed just after noon due to the outage.
