A woman working in Norman Wells, N.W.T., is facing charges for mailing 70 bottles of vodka to a Nunavut community.

RCMP seize 70 bottles of vodka from 3 parcels

A woman working in Norman Wells, N.W.T., is facing charges for mailing booze to Nunavut.

The 28-year-old woman from Port Moody, B.C., works in Norman Wells on a rotational basis, according to RCMP.

Police conducted a month-long investigation into suspicions she was buying liquor in the community and mailing it in parcels to Kugluktuk, Nunavut, an alcohol-restricted community.

With help from Canada Post, RCMP intercepted three packages and a total of 70 bottles of vodka were seized.

The woman has been charged with unlawful sale and supply under the Liquor Act. She's scheduled to appear in court July 20.
