Derek Reimer, director of business development for the North West Company, says there will be much more floor space in each of the Northern stores.

"That will include more space for produce and fresh meat, something that the communities haven't always had in large quantities," he said.

Reimer also says the company will be building a staff training area in each of the stores because it hopes to hire more local workers.

The North West Company plans to have all three projects finished by next summer.
