N.B. should examine banning smoking in cars with kids: minister
New Brunswick should look at adopting a tough new smoking law like Nova Scotia's, says Health Minister Mike Murphy.
New Brunswick should look at adopting a tough new smoking law like Nova Scotia's, says Health Minister Mike Murphy.
Nova Scotia passed legislation on Thursday that bans smoking in cars with children and teens.
The bill is meant to protect anyone under 18 from second-hand smoke.
"That is a very, very serious matter as well," Murphy told the legislature on Friday. "Let's start talking about whether that's something we should do to protect our citizens and our children, in addition to protecting their health information, which is equally serious."
The comment came from Murphy as the Opposition continued to question him regarding the loss of the personal medicare records of 485 New Brunswickers and 133 British Columbians.
