MLA Victor Boudreau cleared over Shediac campground complaint

New Brunswick’s conflict of interest commissioner has rejected a complaint against MLA Victor Boudreau.

Commissioner finds no evidence of conflict of interest or confidential information

New Brunswick’s conflict of interest commissioner has rejected a complaint against MLA Victor Boudreau.

The complaint was filed by Marie-Paule Martin, the owner of a campground in Shediac.

She alleged that Boudreau had received confidential information when he met with campground owners in the Shediac area.

Martin said the information helped Boudreau decide to be part of a group planning a 650-site campground for the area.

The commissioner, Alfred landry, found no evidence of confidential information being shared, nor evidence that Boudreau was in a conflict of interest.

The decision disappointed Martin.

“I felt deceived by the commissioner. I felt that he circumvented quite a number of things,” she said.

Victor Boudreau has always denied the allegations. He did not speak about the decision Thursday.
