"It's very exciting, especially with it being Canada's 150th anniversary."

Dickinson arrived in Winnipeg on Thursday, as part of the first wave of New Brunswick athletes. She'll run in the 5,000 metres and 3,000 metres of the steeplechase.

"I think it's going to be a really great time at the games," the 17-year-old said.

Dickinson is having a successful summer.

She won gold in the 5,000 metres at the 2017 Pan American U20 track and field championships in Trujillo, Peru, and broke the provincial record there.
