Body discovered in St. John River near Tobique Narrows

Paddlers discovered a body near the shore of the St. John River near Tobique Narrows on Wednesday evening, police say.

No identification yet, and RCMP don't know how long the body was in the water

Paddlers discovered a body near the shore of the St. John River near Tobique Narrows on Wednesday evening, police say.

Police were not yet able to identify the person and don't know how long the body was in the river.

Cpl. Mathieu Gallienne with the Woodstock RCMP said the body was found at about ​6:40 p.m. and recovered with the assistance of the Perth-Andover Fire Department and its boat.

"An autopsy will be conducted to assist with the investigation," he said.
