Last Saturday night, a busker was finishing up his set in front of Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal when a man came over to compliment his playing.

The man said to him, "You really touched me. You have an amazing voice."

It didn't take long for Jason Deeh Pitre to realize that man was his longtime idol, four-time Grammy award-winning artist Seal.

Deeh Pitre said Seal's eponymous first album was the first tape he ever bought.

The former coach for The Voice Australia asked Deeh Pitre for a duet, and the two decided to perform Stand by Me.

A crowd formed, and some people began filming and sharing what they saw on Twitter.

Seal later retweeted the performance from his account.

Deeh Pitre shared the story on Facebook.

"When I meet a high caliber artist like Seal (with a world reknown[ed] voice) I feel very vulnerable and small. So when I sang my first sentence, I felt very scared," Deeh Pitre wrote in a detailed post about the experience.

After spending about 10 minutes with Seal, Deeh Pitre said he was so overwhelmed he had to go sit down.

A tourist filmed the impromptu duet, which has netted more than 44,000 views on YouTube in two days.

Deeh Pitre's story is now going viral, as outlets such as Britain's Daily Mail and Italy's Alessandria News share the video.

Seal, who is now in Paris for two nights as he kicks off a global tour, happened to be in Montreal for a secret show.
