Inmate Sylvain Lauzon escapes from Laurentians prison
Lauzon serving nearly five years for robberies, disguise, operation of a motor vehicle for getaway
Provincial police are searching for an inmate who escaped from prison on Tuesday.
Staff in a medium-security unit at Archambault Institution in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines noticed Sylvain Lauzon, 43, was missing during their noon head count.
Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Sûreté du Québec and a warrant for Lauzon's arrest has been issued.
Lauzon is currently serving a four year and 10 months sentence for robberies, disguise, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle for getaway.
He is five feet nine inches tall, weighs 144 pounds, has fair complexion, blue eyes and auburn hair.
Lauzon has two dragon tattoos in a heart shape on the right upper arm, other tattoos on the torso, left calf, and right shoulder, as well as a scar on the left ankle.
CSC is investigating the circumstances of the incident and working with police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.
Anyone with information on Lauzon's whereabouts is asked to contact police.
