There will be a special screening of the documentary Woods Music, with a live music performance by Gráinne.

A journey through Irish music

The history of Irish songs in the White Pine Belt of North America is largely the history of Irish immigration to Canada including Quebec.

The documentary Woods Music explores the songs, singers, and tunes of the lumberjacks and how they formed a unique style and repertoire from their Irish heritage and new Canadian identity.

Join CBC for a screening of Woods Music and a Q&A with the documentary's director/producer Méabh O'Hare who will be attending the screening virtually from Belfast, Ireland.

You'll also be treated to toe-tapping and hand-clapping Irish fusion music with Gráinne featuring Concordia School of Irish Studies alumni Esmé Cavanaugh, Lily Maclean, and Darragh Mondoux. In 2022, these three lassies came together to breathe lusty life into their favourite trad Irish songs.

The event takes place from 3-5 p.m. The address for Maison de la Culture Pavillon Botrel is 3755 Rue Botrel, Montréal, QC H4A 3G8
