Winnipeg’s Redwood Bridge is set to become the Harry Lazarenko Bridge after a Wednesday afternoon vote at city council.

Councillors voted unanimously to rename the bridge after the former Mynarski ward councillor.

Lazarenko was the councillor for the North End area for three decades. He retired from council in 2010 after suffering an aneurism.

The bridge connects the North End to Winnipeg’s Elmwood area.
