Winnipeg police investigating suspicious death of woman

The death of a woman found behind a business along the busy Regent Avenue strip on Wednesday is considered suspicious, police say.

Emergency Services crews responded to a call shortly after 9 a.m. in the 1300 block of Regent Avenue W. on the city's east side. A woman was found unresponsive behind an Enterprise Rent-A-Car location.

She was taken to hospital, where she later died.

The cause of death is unknown and an autopsy is pending, police said.

The case is under investigation but no further information was being released by police, said spokesperson Const. Lisa Mandziak.
