Need a boat? Paddlewheel Princess riverboat for sale — again

The owner of a historic Manitoba riverboat that took passengers for rides through Winnipeg waterways for decades is once again trying to sell it, advertising "Price drastically reduced for quick sale."

The owner of a historic Manitoba riverboat that took passengers for rides through Winnipeg waterways for decades is once again trying to sell it, advertising "Price drastically reduced for quick sale."

Steve Hawchuck has owned the Paddlewheel Princess for the past 48 years. He took out a listing for the boat this weekend.

"I thought somebody young would take it over — there's obviously potential there," he said.

Hawchuck kept mum about his asking price, saying only that he is willing to negotiate with an interested buyer if and when the day comes.

"It's a Winnipeg tradition and we'd like to see it back again," he said.

This isn't Hawchuck's first attempt to unload the ship. In 2013, the former captain of the M.S. Paddlewheel Princess and M.S. Paddlewheel Queen put the boat up for sale, but was unable to secure a buyer.

The ad was listed in the Saturday issue of the Winnipeg Free Press.
