Children stabbed in Winnipeg apartment
A four-month-old baby and a nine-year-old boy were stabbed in a fourth-floor suite of a government-run housing complex at 355 Kennedy Street around 5:30 p.m. CT, police said.
The children were taken to hospital in critical condition but later upgraded to stable.
A 33-year-old woman in the apartment was also stabbed. She is also in stable condition, said Winnipeg police Sgt. Kelly Dennison.
A second woman, who appeared to be in her late 30s, was taken into police custody. She was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police car.
The woman is related to the victims but police would not say how.
Neighbours said she is the mother of the children.
The boy seemed "scared and was breathing heavy," Ramsey said. He appeared to have a stomach wound, she added.
"He was showing security his stomach and he was stabbed," Ramsey said.
The child abuse unit of the Winnipeg Police Service is investigating.
The building is home to a Manitoba Housing office and a daycare centre.
