A teen boy and adult woman were rushed to hospital Tuesday after they were struck by cars in separate incidents in Winnipeg.

The 14-year-old boy was attempting to cross Osborne Street at Wardlaw Avenue just before 4 p.m. CT when he was hit.

He suffered serious injuries to his upper body and remains in critical condition in hospital, police said.

The car was driven by a 19-year-old woman.

Traffic in the northbound lanes of Osborne Street — a major north-south traffic artery — was blocked for several hours as police investigated.

Woman hit on Pembina

A few hours after the collision on Osborne, a woman suffered serious upper and lower body injuries after being struck by a car at the intersection of Pembina Highway and Markham Road.

According to police, the woman was crossing Pembina at about 10 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old woman.

The victim, whose age was not released by police, was sent to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Charges have not yet been laid in either incident, pending the outcome of the investigations, police said.
