COVID-19 outbreak declared at Brantford KFC
3 people associated with the business tested positive
The Brant County Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at a KFC restaurant in Brantford.
The outbreak was declared on Nov. 12 after three people associated with the KFC were reported.
A release from the health unit says the people who tested positive were at the KFC in Lynden Park Mall, between Nov. 1 and Nov. 9, during which they could have passed the virus to others.
No customers have tested positive for COVID-19 or been identified as close contacts, says the release. The three people who tested positive have been directed to self-isolate for 10 days.
An outbreak is declared when there are two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases with "with an epidemiological link in the workplace" such as working in the same area or on the same shift.
It has to happen within a 14-day period, where people could have been infected in the workplace.
An investigation by the health unit says that the KFC was compliant with the current recommended guidelines. There were "no public facing personal protective equipment breaches", meaning customers are at low-risk.
Anyone who went to the KFC between Nov. 1 and Nov. 9, who is concerned about a possible exposure, can contact the Brant Community Healthcare System to arrange an assessment and testing.
KFC says they have done a deep clean, and any other close contacts are currently self-isolating.
