A donation from a service dog school in the United States brought the puppies to Edmonton

Two puppies that were donated by a training school in New York City will help meet the high demand for service dogs  in Edmonton.

The non-profit Dog with Wings Assistance Dog Society was struggling after suffering problems with its breeding program.

Executive director John Wheelwight says the donation will really help.

"We have approximately a two-year waiting list at any time for dogs and we graduate maybe ten to twelve dogs a year, maybe sometimes up to fifteen," he said.

"We're always trying to increase our numbers because our client demand is always increasing."

Puppies undergo two years of training before they are assigned to help people with disabilities, autism, and visual impairments.
