RCMP and Calgary police have arrested a third person in connection with an "ongoing investigation" into terrorism-related offences.

A 15-year-old boy is the latest person to be arrested in the national security investigation and the second youth. He has since been released on bail and can live in the community under a number of conditions.

The other youth is 16 years old.

The two teens' identities are protected by publication bans under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

In June, investigators charged Zakarya Hussein, 20, with four terrorism-related charges.

Because he is not a youth, court documents connected to that case are accessible and provide more information into the investigation.

Hussein is accused of posting a video to TikTok in May that facilitated and contributed to ISIS and al-Qaeda activities, the documents reveal.

As well, Hussein is accused of creating and possessing instructions on how to make explosives.

Hussein faces criminal charges while the two youths are subject to terrorism peace bond applications.

He will be back in court next week.

Peace bonds sought

Prosecutor Kent Brown is seeking judges' orders that would place the teens on peace bonds, meaning if successful, they would be subject to restrictions and conditions.

Terrorism peace bonds are imposed if the Crown can make the case that the accused may commit a crime.

Conditions can include a curfew, limiting access to the internet and, in some cases, a monitoring bracelet.

Both youths will appear in court on Nov. 6.
