Calgary police have charged a man who lives and works at a northwest day home with numerous sexual offences against a young child at the private facility.

Jason David Mitchell, 46, is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.

Police said an assault was reported to them earlier this week when a young child disclosed being touched and kissed and asked to "inappropriately touch a man" at Little Footprints Dayhome.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred between September 2013 and May 2016.

Police said the dayhome was originally operated out of a private residence in the 0-100 block of Royal Birch Crescent N.W., before moving to a new location in the 0-100 block of Royal Ridge Terrace N.W. about a year ago.

A court document lists the day home's address as 82 Royal Ridge Terrace N.W.

Police said the operator of the day home is known to the accused and lives at the same address.

Investigators are trying to get in touch with parents who may have had children attending the day home and are asking anyone with information to call police at 403-266-1234.

"Neither the accused nor the operator are providing details of the past and present clients at the day home," police said in a release.

Police are not releasing the age and gender of the victim in order to protect the child's identity.
