Fentanyl pills, guns seized in Lethbridge drug bust
2nd raid in as many weeks to yield the pills, which are often disguised as OxyContin
Three men are facing several charges after police in Lethbridge seized more than 300 fentanyl pills from a residence.
The drugs were found during the execution of a search warrant at a north-side home on Feb. 26, the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said in a release.
Fentanyl sold on the street is often disguised as the drug OxyContin. It has been linked to a number of overdose deaths, police say.
Investigators also found long barrel firearms, ammunition and a replica handgun as well as marijuana and prescription pills in the residence.
Three men in their 20s are charged with a total of 20 drugs and weapons offences.
This is the second time in as many weeks fentanyl has been confiscated in Lethbridge.
On Feb. 20 ALERT seized 88 fentanyl pills from a south-side apartment.
Since 2014, more than 14,000 fentanyl pills have been seized across the province.
