Dog found dead in Renfrew yard prompts animal cruelty investigation

Calgary police are investigating the case of a homeowner who found their dog dead and buried in the backyard.

Police do not believe other animals in the northeast Calgary community are in danger

Calgary police are investigating the case of a homeowner who found their dog dead and buried in the backyard.

Officers were called to the home located in the 1400 block of Richland Road N.E. around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say the animal's death is suspicious.

"The investigation is ongoing, however, police believe the incident was not random and therefore do not believe any other animals in the community are in danger," said police in a release.

Both police and the Calgary Humane Society are investigating.
