Police seek man suspected of shooting at fleeing car near Central Library
3 men involved in altercation fled the area, with no reports of injuries, say police
Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting that took place downtown near the Central Library on Monday.
The incident occurred around 1:50 p.m., when two officers already in the area heard gunshots, according to a news release.
Police say three men were involved in a physical altercation near an apartment building in the 400 block of Eighth Avenue S.E.
Two of the men fled in a black Hyundai Sonata while the third opened fired on the fleeing sedan before jumping into another vehicle and speeding off.
The abandoned Sonata was found nearby.
"Officers worked quickly to contain the scene and check for possible victims," according to the release.
"While blood was initially found at the scene, it was later determined to be unrelated to the shooting. No victims were found and no injuries were reported."
Police describe the suspected shooter as a black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks or braided hair, wearing an army green jacket, white T-shirt and red sneakers.
There is no description of the men who fled in the Hyundai.
