Two houses have extensive damage after a fire in the early hours of Sunday morning in a southwest Calgary community.

The Calgary Fire Department received multiple calls around 2 a.m. for the blaze, which happened around the 6600 block of Coach Hill Road S.W., according to a release.

Everyone living in the buildings was able to evacuate before fire crews arrived. Alberta Health Services assessed some of the residents on the scene, but nobody was taken to the hospital.

Fire crews were able to control the flames and remained on scene throughout the day to ensure the fire was extinguished. Two homes "will be uninhabitable," said the fire department, while a third has some exterior damage.

The Calgary Fire Department fire investigator is working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Anyone with photos, video or information can reach out to the fire department at piofire@calgary.ca.
