A man in his 80s is in hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car Sunday night in Surrey, RCMP say.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. PT near 75A Avenue and 122A Street.

Surrey RCMP Staff Sgt. Dwayne Farlin said the man was crossing the intersection in a marked crosswalk when he was hit.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, Farlin said. The driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with police.

The scene on 75A Avenue was closed near 122A Street for several hours overnight, as investigators gathered evidence.

RCMP said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
